Reviewing my predictions 4th round fa cup

January 25, 2009 · Posted in Football · Comment

From my previous predicitions post I thought I should review them.

Results from yesterday

Correct – Got this one spot on, although it does appear Chelsea did make harder work then expected

Wrong – Real surprise Villa didnt win this, however Doncaster in all in looked to have the better chances

Wrong – the higher class levels did shine through, Zola looked a relieved manager after the game

Looking at my post, I did not exactly predict a result, good win for Hull.

Correct – class again shown through but not until the 88th minute. Kettering put up a real fight but Hodgson must wonder what work he really has to do as Fulham looked nervous and lost for ideas

Correct – Man Utd looked in cruise control after the second goal could have got quite a few more. Spurs fans and Harry Redknapp must wonder what the players are thinking, no passion or drive. Definately lack the creative edge and Harry might have to magic some more money from the board if he would like Spurs to stay away from the dog fight coming

Wrong – holders knocked out by a better team, Tony Adams might already be looking over his shoulder. Players look lost at times. He really needs to get that Pompey fight back otherwise they might have a fight on their hands come May.

Correct – Sheffield Utd have a good record in progressing in cups and could upset some bigger boys in the next few weeks

Wrong – sounds like the worse game of the round so far. Both teams need fresh faces and not sure the replay will be any beter.

Correct – class did come through eventually. Chris Coleman must be happy with the away win. Not sure they will give many bigger teams issues but through to a potential money earning tie

I didnt really predict a result in this one – Glad my home team got the win. They raced ahead and then had to hold out against a Palace team which has leaked 8 goals in 2 games. Shock horror Warnock had a rant about the young ref, 23 years old, we should be praising them, however the disallowed goal was very touch and go.

Wrong – Looked a good cup tie and didnt disappoint. Burnley will definately fancy the replay at Turf Moore. Not sure on the celebration ;-)

Wrong – Boro looked like the better team. Wolves can now concentrate on automatic promotion. I still wouldnt be surprised if Boro and Wolves swap divisions at the end of the season.

Sunday’s FA Cup 4th round predicitons

January 25, 2009 · Posted in Football · Comment
Yesterdays maches proves that any 11 on their day can beat another. I’m not so sure today but here are my predicitions
Cardiff v Arsenal, R4, 13:30

Dave Jones’ Cardiff are unbeaten in 10 (yes ten games) and will be looking for their 7th home game without defeat, that is some record. Cardiff have a good Championship squad and could cause Arsene Wenger’s side a few problems. Cardiff are without Peter Whittingham.
Young Welsh whizzkid Aaron Ramsey returns to his former club, he is expected to start which will give his North London team a much need spark of creativeness. Arsenal are with Gael Clichy who is suspended and wont risk Eduardo but can welcome back William Gallas. Arsene Wenger has won this competition 4 times and probably needs this the most this season with their stop start form in the Premiership. I predict a hard fought away win by one for my gooners.
Repeat match from Monday’s night derby. Liverpool struggled to find much creative edge against their rivals across Stanley Park. Liverpool must bank on having Stevie G (Steven Gerrard) captain marvel coming back into top form and Fernando Torres hitting he net. Everton on the other hand had good chances on Monday and did give Liverpool real problems from open and set plays.
Depending on the team Rafa Benitez puts out in the televised game, depends on the overall play, the tinker man may just change the formation back to their more familar 4-5-1 formation which he reverted to on Monday night.
For me I can see Everton sneaking a win.
