Theirry Henry made the right decision – MLS is not the scrap heap
Many people have crictised Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry for moving to the New York Red Bulls but here are my ten points why its a great move for any player
1. Extents your career
2. Its the biggest pay day around
3. You are contracted by the league not the team, gives better freedom to the player
4. Gives you a name
5. Gives you access to other huge sport stars
6. Better life
7. MLS has major investors and most clubs are making money unlike most major European clubs
8. Play in the summer
9. You play around other major sports
10. Did I mention sponsorship….opens a whole new world

My 23 England downfalls
1. English grass roots need addressing asap, from coaching to winner mentality to allowing skills and freedom (Joe Cole is the prime example of how we coach out skills and freedom) Our FA is supposed to be in control of the premier league to our international team but always cave and do not ever punish big clubs
2. Too many premadonnas
3. 4-4-2 is not an international formation
4. Lampard cannot play for England anymore. Never delivers for England because of his lack of ability to play in any formation apart from Chelsea’s formation
5. We desperately need to get Owen Hargreaves fit regardless of what Fergie has to say. O and Gareth Barry is not a holding midfielder
6. Upson is not good enough and he and Terry were shocking
7. Gerrard is our only actual world class midfielder. Playing him from the left is crazy
8. Need to bleed young blood
9. Best players doesn’t mean best team
10. Time for Harry Redknapp or Roy Hodgson…English manager
11. Ashley Cole is the only player who could get into any international team
12. Wayne Rooney although was playing out of his preferred position is not in the same league as Ronaldo or Messi.
13. England always looked for an excuse
14. We definitely missed Rio Ferdinand
15. Capello is an elite club manager but doesn’t mean he isn’t ready to manage England…the players have fundamental flaws.
16. English clubs need to develop English youth
17. Reintroduction of b internationals for youth and fringe player developments
18. David Beckham will not make a good England manager (at the moment anyways)
19. David James although had two good games needs to help develop our English keepers
20. Not enough good attacking options. Walcott needs to leave Arsenal and play front. Raw pass scares any player
21. Possession is key to international football, a team who can’t dictate the ball won’t dictate the game
22. Playing for England is an honour not a given
23. The “big” players think they are untouchable and believe they won’t be dropped, meaning they don’t have any hunger

World cup preview group d
Group D could be the group hardest to qualify, all four teams have some excellent players and great team spirit, as ever you cannot ever discount the Germans, always organised and well drilled, they have some younger creative players, the Aussies who have some real class through out their team and have a real team bond. Serbia have some awesome prospects and one of the best defenders in the world Man Utd’s Vidic and then world cup unknowns Ghana could ruin the three way party.
Germany
Possibly the most constituent and organised team in world football. The Germans have already lost their captain and arguably their key man Michael Ballack, Ballack was injured in the FA cup final last weekend. Joachim Low who was Jurgen Klinsmann’s assistant at the last world cup 2006, now takes charge for his second major tournament. The German’s will expect nothing less than winning the group and have a mouth watering potential tie against the old enemy England.
Key player – Phillipp Lahm, probably best full back in the world will be key in helping shape the attacks and defence. Miroslav Klose will need to lead from the front to assist Lahm.
Prediction – 1st – Germany are no mugs but in the group of death as its dubbed they will need to beat the Aussies on June 13th.
Australia
The socceroo’s although in one of the toughest groups will fancy causing big upsets, they were the first team to actually qualify for the world cup and had an impressive 14 match qualification. Guus Hiddink’s influence is still running through the team which has been emphasised by Pim Verbeek. Strong defence and good wing play makes Australia second favourites to qualify in my eyes.
Key player – Everyone suggests Tim Cahill who is clearly a national hero but for me Mark Schwarzer, the record cap holder is the key to the Aussies progressing passed qualifying and onto potentially quarter finals.
Prediction – 2nd if they dont roll over to the Germans. The second match against Ghana on the 19th is the Aussies best opportunity to get the ball moving.
Serbia
This is Serbia’s first independent appearance at the world cup finals. Maybe the team is a bit too green for this world cup but have some impressive wins under their belts. Radomir Antic who had a really good record in Spain including managing both Madrid sides will fancy his chances against Ghana and Australia.
Key player – Dejan Stankovic currently at Inter has had a great career for Lazio and now playmaker at champions Inter will need to be the spark in the final third whereas Nemanja Vidic is essential at the back.
Prediction – 3rd
Ghana
Milovan Rajevac’s black stars have a great chance to turn heads in Group D. Ghana have one of the most powerful midfield in international football, including one half of Inter’s bad boys Sulley Muntari and captain Stephen Appiah. Althought currently sweating on world class midfielder Michael Essien’s fitness, Ghana will fancy their chances. Their only weakness appears to be their goalkeeper Richard Kingston who has proven in a few performances in England he is not always on his game.
Key player – Michael Essien, without a doubt their best player and could easily fit into any side at the world cup
Prediction – 4th, think they might lose all their games

World cup preview group c
Group C
England
Come on In-ger-land! Yes this year I am actually excited at the prospects of England actually being able to beat any team in world cup, even the Brazilians, Argentinians or Spanish (not on penalties of course)
England have by far the best defence in the tournament, the midfield actually scares teams with the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Milnar all fighting for midfield spots. We have good quick players on the wings and with Rooney upfront we have a genuine world class forward. Whether we can keep clean sheets is probably the worry or lack of specialist right back, back in Fabio we have the manager for the big time.
Key Player – Wayne Rooney, he is the key for success
Prediction – 1st, maybe America might gives us a sock first game but we will feel confident until semi’s
USA
This is the best America side I have probably seen. They have the experience, the international class players and have a real team spirit. I think many England fans have overlooked the American side for the first game. They ran through Spain at the confeds cup and won’t care who they upset. Also don’t forget the quality they have Oguchi Onyewu, Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore, Tim Howard, UEFA finalist Clint Dempsey and ask Everton fans what they thought of Landon Donovan. Many good players and very good attacking.
Key Player – Tim Howard, I think he might have to make some vital saves to secure qualifying
Prediction – 2nd
Algeria
Its 24 years since their last appearance at the world cup, coach Rabah Saadane looks to be slowly building a good base of players Madjid Bougherra, Nadir Belhadj, captain Yazid Mansouri, Karim Ziani and Mourad Meghni have all made big leaps in recent years. They aren’t a bad side at all and will push teams further than expected by many.
Key Player – Madjid Bougherra, will have to be the defender supreme and stop teams exposing them at the back. Look out for captain Mansouri and Meghni who is likened to Zidane who was born in Algeria.
Prediction – 3rd/4th, its a straight fight with Slovenia.
Slovenia
Another little known side who have done extremely well under coach Matjaz Kek. Slovenia have good players such as Cologne striker Milivoje Novakovic, keeper Samir Handanovic and captain and midfield creator Robert Koren, West Brom midfielder will probably fancy his chances against the Algerians but will be wary of a hiding from England and won’t fancy playing the Americans.
Key Player – Milivoje Novakovic, goals will be hard to come by in world cup finals and he must score.
Prediction – 4th if they don’t get off to a flyer.

World cup preview group b
In my series of reviews here are my thoughts on Group B, could be the boring group of the world cup.
Group B
Argentina
Wow where do you start with possibly the most talked about provisional squad in history? Diego Maradona, maybe the best player to have played in my lifetime is now coach of his national squad and has left out not one, or two but three of his better players. Juan Roman Riquelme, Javier Zanetti and Esteban Cambiasso all miss out. Maybe for the best of his side or maybe there is a deeper issue.
Back to team prospects, Argentina have the best player in the world in Lionel Messi up front who has scored an incredible 34 goals in the league and matched the original Ronaldo’s goal tally of 47 in all competitions this season and from left wing, their front line also boasts Carlos Tevez and Athletico Madrid’s main man Sergio Agüero. The only question will be how secure will the defence be with the unbelievable forward line constantly attacking?
Key Player – Has to be Messi, no other player not even Portuguese forward Ronaldo puts the fear into defenders.
Prediction – 1st but not without a scare, possibly Nigeria.
Nigeria
Remember the super eagles from a few years ago? Well they aren’t exactly the power they were but will fancy their chances against Greece and less favoured South Korea. With Everton pairing up front Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Victor Anichebe and back up from experienced Nwankwo Kanu and hit and miss star Obafemi Martins they will fancy their chances.
Key Player – Yakubu or Mikel, Mikel will have to work his socks off to protect Shittu and co at the back. Yakubu will need to score early goals otherwise they will struggle against more skilful European and South American teams.
Prediction – 2nd
South Korea
Not going to lie I have absolutely no idea on how they are going to get on. It is their seventh world cup in a row, they now have Huh Jung-Moo but had a bumpy qualification. Park Ji-Sung now captain has shone at the last two world cups and has firmly established himself as their best player, especially since adapting to English football.
Key Player – Park Ji-Sung must lead his team
Prediction – 3rd, will fancy beating Greece and taking on Nigeria.
Greece
Greek team shocked the world a few years back with their Euro 2004 win, it is not going to happen this year. Although Otto Rehhagel has inspired his veteran squad to some big wins, this year will be one too far for them.
Key Player – Captain Georgios Karagounis will have to be like a Greek god to sort this aged team out
Prediction – 4th, can see them being thumped
Danny Denhard
