Firefox is now officially the most popular browser in Europe, it has now over taken IE 7. The very useful Statcounter Having every windows compatible browser available on both my laptop, home pc and mobile phone it is easy to see why this would be true.

Many users are becoming used to using alternative browsers and Firefox has seemed to be the bridge between the geeks and the main stream.

Search Engines stats in the UK last 6 months

March 19, 2009 · Posted in SEO, Web/site review · Comment

After reviewing all sorts of internet stats I thought I would assess search engines market share and stats used in the UK over the last six months.

Google 90.21
Yahoo! 4.21
AOL 1.74
MSN 1.34
Windows Live 1.33
Ask Jeeves 1.03
AltaVista 0.08

As you would expect Google has the majority share, what is surpising is how many per cent uses the search engine. 90% is absolute dominance, I know they have market share but that is 9 out of 10 users in the UK use Google, Yahoo my usual weapon of choice has only 4%, which is down greatly compared to the American stats.

Another surprise is AOL have a greater market share than MSN, I am sure once Kumo is released it could all change but not so sure this will eat back on Google dominance.
