Quinton Rampage Jackson wants Revenge
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Rampage Jackson wants revenge for his loses.
Rampage former Pride sar lost to Shogun Rua at Pride and more recently where he lost to Forrest Griffin and lost his light heavyweight title at UFC 86.
Rampage will no doubt want to fight for the title after the upcoming battle at UFC 98 between champion Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida, with his guarenteed fight against the victor, but he has said in many interviews he wishes to avengue his losses.
It might be a while until the fights happen, as Forrest has just signed to face middleweight champion Anderson Silva. With Shogun just beating Liddell at UFC 97 it maybe more likely if but and maybe but would love to see a battle between Shogun and Rampage, lets just say it would be a real knock out.
I think if Forrest and Rampage fight again it wont be like the first fight. Be interesting to see what oppenent Rampage gets first as both Shogun and Griffin are back in the pecking order in the light heavyweight division.
Personally speaking I think Rampage will go through both quite easily providing he gets through the winner from UFC 98.

UFC daily update
A quick round up of the most important UFC news today.
Lightweights Josh Neer and Kurt Pellegrino are due to fight at UFC Fight Night 19 on August 5th, it is not completely official but very close.
Light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans has now his second main card fight against “The Dragon” Lyoto Machida, this has now been signed as the main event at UFC 98, this fight promises to be a knock out. Appears the UFC fans already suggesting Lyoto Machida to be the next champion with 75% of votes backing Lyoto Machida to win. Greg Jackson will have his camp working hard to try and beat the original fighting style of Machida.
BJ Penn files formal complaint with NSAC over the grease gate incident, it appears it will have to be investigated – screams rematch, although not sure UFC 100 main card or Kenny Florian would be happy to wait for the rubber match. BJ also calls for tough penalities for such offences, no doubt full details are too come.
Charles “Mask” Lewis co founder of Tapout has died, there are many rumours doing the rounds but all lead to one story that Mask died in a car accident.
Lastly it seems that Rampage Jackon has to have surgery to take care of his jaw which injuried in his training camp for his fight against Wanderlai Silva at UFC 92.

UFC daily update
The OAC (Ohio Athletic Commission) have issued the following suspension after medical advice after bouts at UFC 96
Mark Munoz — The former Oklahoma State University (OSU) wrestling powerhouse is suspended for 60 days
Mike Patt — He is suspended for 30 days
Gabriel Gonzaga — “Napao” is suspended for 60 days
Pete Sell — “Drago” is suspended for 30 days
Jason Day — “Dooms” is suspended for 30 days
Ryan Madigan — The Octagon newcomer has been suspended indefinitely because of an eye injury
Rashad Evans has come out and suggested he expects to fight Lyoto Machida although this has not been officially released by Dana White or UFC.
After the face over at UFC 96, I am sure Dana and co will do everything in their power to ensure we see Rampage and Rashad at UFC 98 main event.
On another Rashad point, he has also been quoted in saying he will find a kink in Lyoto Machida armour. His training camp and trainer Greg Jackson is famously known for tactics and game plans although are recently being investigated for the BJ Penn GSP grease gate incident.
411mania (good site by the way) have released their March top ten middleweights
1. Anderson Silva
2. Paulo Filho
3. Dan Henderson
4. Rich Franklin
5. Nate Marquardt
6. Yushin Okami
7. Robbie Lawler
8. Denis Kang
9. Yoshihiro Akiyama
10. Kazuo Misaki
Personally I think Michael Bisping would be higher with only one lose to Rashad Evans and due to fight Dan Henderson but let’s see how April’s is viewed. Might also change with the proposed
It appears Quinton Rampage Jackson is actual injured his hand the Jardine fight and will not fight, to me I think like Frank Mir it is important if you have a title fight you should be at your optimum fighting level otherwise you are only going to blame yourself.
mmamoz has an interesting article from referee in question Yves Lavigne, as I said yesterday I don’t actually think he should be punished as everyone makes mistakes and as no fighter were hurt.
“I feel really bad. Fighters deserve the best. Instead of talking about Mr. Browns great win people are talking about a ref. Mr. Brown won with athleticism and tools he has and I’m taking the spotlight away because of my mistake. I feel really bad about it. He deserves better. He worked hard for that win.”
After the fight Lavigne went to the back and checked on Sell, “Mr. Sell was ok, according to him and said I should’ve let it go.” Lavigne says. “I went to talk to him to see if he was ok. I do that on a regular basis after the fight. Sometimes with the adrenaline they tell the doctor they are ok but sometime later they are not. He really was ok.”

UFC 96 in depth results and review
An in depth look at UFC 96, results and review of the bouts
Quinton Jackson win over Keith Jardine via unanimous decision – 29-28, 29-28, 30-27
This light heavyweight bout was definitely fight of the night. Many people were expecting a first round with someone being knocked out early on in the fight. Jardine did do well against the former light heavyweight champion, his unusual fighting stance and random attacks did cause Rampage a couple of issues, one with his kicks which he did not ulitise and one punch in the second. Rampage on the other hand did extremely well, and showed kicks of his own and two good take downs. He ultimately won the fight with better striking and two knock downs of Jardine, especially in the first and end of the third round. This fight ensures Rampage Jackson gets his title fight but it is a bit early (4 weeks training only) to fight Rashad Evans.
Shane Carwin win over Gabriel Gonzaga via knockout (punch) — Round 1, 1:09
This fight was between two of the biggest names touted for a title contention and two of the biggest fighters height and weight wise in the heavyweight division. Gonzaga had first blood ealy but rocking Carwin with two big punches but all credit to Carwin who held tight and a sweet short right knocked Brazilian Gonzaga out. This pushes Shane Carwin to top 3 contenders. With Mir pulling out of the main event at UFC 98, this allows time for him to possibly fight another top contender to push his credentials. Personally speaking I feel he needs to fight a wiley older fighter like Nogura or Couture to jump up to a title shot and not to mention Chuick Kongo who must be next in line.
Matt Brown win over Pete Sell via TKO (strikes) — Round 1, 1:32
This was the most one sided fight on the card, Matt Brown actually won the fight twice and asked referee Yves Lavigne to stop the fight. He basically won his strike combinations twice. Pete Sell looked dead on his feet from the deadly head kick dished out from Matt Brown.
Matt Hamill win over Mark Munoz via knockout (head kick) — Round 1, 3:53
This was definintely knock out of the night, Matt Hamill looked so up for the fight and used a combo of good wrestling defence and greatly improved striking to beat Munoz who looked out of the match from the start of the fight. Munoz former light heavyweight from WEC needed extra medicial attention after fight from the savage head kick from Hamill.
Gray Maynard win over Jim Miller via unanimous decision – 30-27, 30-27, 30-27
Gray Maynard aka the Bully basically did bully Jim Miller throughout the fight. Maynard had great striking and went through Miller who had no answers to Maynard’s punches. Maynard must feel like he can know progress up the ladder.
Tamdan McCrory win over Ryan Madigan via TKO (strikes) — Round 1, 3:35
Another one sided match which McCrory looked back to his best. It appeared throughout the only round he would submit Madigan in his debut in the UFC however mounting and controlling his oppenent forcing a TKO.
Kendall Grove win over Jason Day via TKO (strikes) — Round 1, 1:32
The old Kendall Grove was back, the Hawiian native looked alot more confident and in control. After suggestion he could have lost his contract he finished Jason Day with a picture perfect straight right and finished Day off with brutal elbows and ground and pound. Grove had BJ Penn in his corner which appeared to spur on Kendall who will take good heart from his victory. He does have the best fight celebration too.
Jason Brilz win over Tim Boetsch via unanimous decision – 29-28, 29-28, 29-28
Brandon Vera win over Mike Patt via TKO (leg kick) — Round, 1:27
The Truth is back, Brandon Vera returned to his deadly best, his Muay Thai was on point and picked apart Mike Patt with devasting leg kicks which ultimately finished off Patt. Vera was also very attacking and looked like he was in his prime at heavyweight.
Shane Nelson win over Aaron Riley via TKO (strikes) — Round 1, 0:44

UFC 98 – Official line up
UFC 98:
Main Event
Lesnar vs. Mir 2,
Co main event
Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra,
Dan Miller vs. Yushin Okami,
Sean Sherk vs. Frankie Edgar
Wanderlai Silva has come out in an interview yesterday after the announcement he and Rich Franklin are fighting at catchweight at UFC 99, that he stills wants another fights against Rampage Jackson. With the destruction of Silva in their last fight I can’t see UFC allowing this to happen and whether Rampage gets through Jardine at this weekends UFC 96, it looks likely he may have Forrest Griffins next fight or have a title shot.
UFC 99 – two new fights look like they have been added to the German fight card, England’s midlander Paul Taylor Vs German Peter Sobotta, which will be Peter Sobotta first fight in the UFC.
The second fight is Stefan Struve Vs Denis Stojnic. It has already been suggested the loser will be cut from UFC.
Lastly a telephone conference call suggest Rampage Jackson does not know who Damian Maia is…. might be an idea to throw them into the octagon together.
