All you cocktail lounge lovers out there should look your finest when you head to Loungelover, as you’ll want to live up to your surroundings. It really is a divine looking bar. Seating ranges from sculptural bar stools to antique armchairs. There are huge Chinese urns, wooden fairground horses and dolls houses! Their cocktail list has all of the classics with a twist or two and the quality is above average (quite original and done really well). There are a selection of wines and champagnes but note no beer.

Personally, I recommend Butterfly Wings, which combines strawberries, basil and lychee liqueur shaken with Sputnik basil and Russian vodka. They serve Japanese tapas which are like little pieces of heaven. It’s not cheap, but this isn’t the kind of place you pop by for a quick drink after work, unless your the kind of person who like myself likes to make any moment an occasion. You’ll need to book in advance as entry is by reservation only.

Alltop – love it

January 26, 2009 · Posted in Web/site review · Comment

Have you ever wanted a site which acted like a magazine rack giving you snippets of news and articles you might want to read?
Or a centralised space where the best of the web is in one place and acts like a massive dynamic RSS reader?

Well I did and came across a newish site (admittedly a few months ago) in Alltop
The site was put together and owned by the main man in VC and inspiring Guy Kawasaki, he used to work with Apple, is responsible for so many good websites, great investments and web concepts, everything you read and any interaction with suggests he has a great humorous side and simply oozes successl.
Guy’s other project include: Popurls and Truemors

For me why its so easy and so handy is it offers great content and you dont have subscribe, you select your topic and the feeds are ready, so if you are a regular visitor or know me, you know i’m a big UFC fan, so you go to alltop search for the section you are interested in and then it appears with the best feeds. So UFC is under MMA so simple.

If you into something completely random click on the alphabet and it will display all the results.
Its so useful for information, keeping up to date with developments and market research, after a conversation with Guy on Twitter, he will be announcing new developments coming soon @ SXSW.

Anyways keeping it brief – check out the site, its a must look/must read and will keep you entertained for hours!

Jonathon Ross’ return

Jonathon Ross returns

Watch the show

10.35 Friday (23rd January) was the return of Wossy. His first guests back were pocket sized sweat machine funny man Lee Evans, the very intelligential and amusing Stephen Fry and Hollywood’s very own alpha male Tom Cruise.

From the outset Jonathon Ross come back punching with funny one liners and the odd reference to his gag back in November with Russell Brand.

Lee Evans has always been the DVD selling comedian to me, short, busting with energy and funny, he had by far the shorter section of the show and did what every decent comedians does, took the piss out of his wife. Sure she loved that ;-)

Stephen Fry was actually really funny, he is definitely on a higher intelligential plain that most, the Twitter plug will no doubt get 30 something’s rushing towards the micro-blogging platform but nevertheless does go to prove celebrities can update their own web based apps ;-)

Lastly came an actor loved by millions, or to most 80’s babies, maverick, the 5ft something actor Tom Cruise. He obviously came on the show to plug his new movie Valkyrie Ross did what he has done to most men who try and act the bigger star on his show was to take him out of the comfort zone and make him sing. He did similar to Jimmy Carr. Tom Cruise is a typical alpha male, had to be the star, centre of attention and act like he was in control of his segment. The guy has acting talents (more of years gone by) and has been in the public eye for 25 years now but he really needs to lay off the power trip.

All in all Jonathon Ross’ return was what you would expect from a veteran of the industry, humour, probing questions and the odd dig at the stars, but he does have the charm and lol funny moments which will win back the critics
