My England team

February 1, 2009 · Posted in Football, Sport · Comment

Its the usual conversation you have with your mates over a beer or a drink so I thought I would put it into writing.

GK – Ben Foster
The Man U second choice is still developing but needs to move to show everyone his potential and get himself into Capello’s plans
RB – Micah Richards
Still the best player we have in the right back poisition, strength power and pace, he has both attacking power and good defensive skills
LB – Ashley Cole
Still the best left back we have and made the position his. Seems to like the more attacking style Chelsea have been playing.
CB – Rio Ferdinand
What do you need to say about the most consitent centre back in England. His leadership skills is essential for England
CB – John Terry
Current captain for England is still one of the best and Rio complements him.
RW – Ashley Young
This is close between Ashley Young and Villa team mate James Milnar. Young could easily play on the left but think we need to play more dynamically and would personally let him roam.
CM – Steven Gerrard
Don’t need to say anything about the best English player and one of the best players in the world. Needs more freedom in he England team
CM – Michael Carrick
Most under rated English players around, been running most games for Man U this season and is the missing link for England
LW – Gareth Barry
Wouldnt stick to being on the left and would help sit in. With Rooney playing he would roam and allow movement and the midfield joining in attack
ST – Michael Owen
Best goal scorer in England, his game has developed and scored where ever he has been. Can not be overlooked for much longer and scores the ugly goals which England have missed
ST – Wayne Rooney
Best forward and hardest working forward in football. His creative eye and being able to manufacture chances for others makes Rooney a must in the team

Subs
GK - David James, Joe Hart
DF - Jolenn Lescott, Glenn Johnson, Jonathon Woodgate, Ledley King, Curtis Davies
MF - Frank Lampard, Owen Hargreaves, James Milnar, Aaron Lennon, Joe Cole, Tom Huddlestone
ST - Emile Heskey, Jermaine Defoe, Gabby Aghbonlar, Dean Aston, Theo Walcott

Sunday’s FA Cup 4th round predicitons

January 25, 2009 · Posted in Football · Comment
Yesterdays maches proves that any 11 on their day can beat another. I’m not so sure today but here are my predicitions
Cardiff v Arsenal, R4, 13:30

Dave Jones’ Cardiff are unbeaten in 10 (yes ten games) and will be looking for their 7th home game without defeat, that is some record. Cardiff have a good Championship squad and could cause Arsene Wenger’s side a few problems. Cardiff are without Peter Whittingham.
Young Welsh whizzkid Aaron Ramsey returns to his former club, he is expected to start which will give his North London team a much need spark of creativeness. Arsenal are with Gael Clichy who is suspended and wont risk Eduardo but can welcome back William Gallas. Arsene Wenger has won this competition 4 times and probably needs this the most this season with their stop start form in the Premiership. I predict a hard fought away win by one for my gooners.
Repeat match from Monday’s night derby. Liverpool struggled to find much creative edge against their rivals across Stanley Park. Liverpool must bank on having Stevie G (Steven Gerrard) captain marvel coming back into top form and Fernando Torres hitting he net. Everton on the other hand had good chances on Monday and did give Liverpool real problems from open and set plays.
Depending on the team Rafa Benitez puts out in the televised game, depends on the overall play, the tinker man may just change the formation back to their more familar 4-5-1 formation which he reverted to on Monday night.
For me I can see Everton sneaking a win.
