UFC 102 – Brandon Vera Vs. Krzysztof Soszynski preview
Vera V Soszynski looks to be one of the potential fights of UFC 102, both fighters are on the way up.
Vera has had an indifferent time since dropping down from heavyweight. He beat kick boxer Michael Patt at UFC 96, but lost a match against co main event Keith Jardine, but has the quality to beat anyone as he displayed at heavyweight, beating former champ Frank Mir. His record stands at 10 and 3.
Soszynski has had a really impressive start in the UFC, is 3 and 0, with latest win over Andre Gusmao at UFC 98. Although his overall record is 18-8-1. His submissions and striking is something to be wary of.
It appears i’m one of the only Brandon Vera fans left but this guy has unbeliveable ability and should put the Polish/Canadian out. I think we should see the best of Brandon, being back to his deadly strikes including his knees and kicks. Vera has also expressed a desire to fight returning former champ Tito Ortiz.
Think this will be a tight first round with Vera keeping Soszynski away with kicks and then attacking in the second round. With the submission history Vera might not want to get too close but his ground game has not been tested fully for quite a while!
Predict Second round TKO winner Brandon Vera

UFC 102 – Couture v Nogueria preview
UFC 102 is on Saturday night Sunday morning, this card isn’t the most exciting on paper and only really boasts two fights for the event fans.
The fight between two legends is the first and the main attraction as the main card fight -
One is UFC veteran – Randy Couture, who has been both light heavy and heavyweight champion and the older former pride ruler Nogueria.
Randy Couture record is now 46 (defy’s logic right) his record is 16 wins and 9 loses includes wins over Vitor Belfort, Gabriel Gonzaga, Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell.
Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira is 33, has been interim heavyweight champion until his lose to Frank Mir record is 31-5-1 includes wins over former champ Tim Syvlia and Heath Herring making his UFC record 2 wins and 1 lose.
Both fighters are out of the prime MMA years but have shown in previous fights an explosion of power or an ability to turn any situation into an attack or situation of dominance or imposing their will.
Couture for me still has many skills and his experience apart from his previous outting against champ Brock has shown a really classy thinking fighter.
Nogueria on the other hand hasn’t looked his best since moving to UFC. Last time out against Mir he wasn’t in the fight @ all, Mir outboxed and out did Nog every step of the fairly brief fight.
This one for me is Couture’s to lose, I predict a second road TKO.
Let the battle commence

Demain Maia vs Nate Marquardt UFC 102
Event – UFC 102
Fight taking place in – Portland
Date – August 29th
Middleweight top 5 contenders Demain Maia and Nate Marquardt sign for UFC 102 battle which could determine the next title shot against Anderson Silva.
Maia is a very impressive 11 and 0, 5 without lose in the UFC, he has defeated –
Ryan Jensen
Ed Herman
Jason MacDonald
Nate Quarry
Chael Sonnen at UFC 95
Marquardt 31-8-2 already a well known name at middleweight in the UFC and has already lost to current belt holder Anderson Silva record includes recent wins over -
Wilson Gouveia at UFC 95 and Martin Kampmann at UFC 88.
This fight will be a true test for Maia who is a true submission specialist against Nate Marquardt who is well rounded and has won his last fight by TKO. This is hard to call but think Maia has a real ground game and took take down Marquardt and make him tap quick. Submission specialists are definitely having a hot winning spell in the middleweight, ignore the last title fight as it will only get me started lol
Anyways be a great fight and if Anderson Silva does make a full time step upto light heavyweight could prove to be the next champion.

UFC daily update and news
With UFC 97 down the line in 2 weeks, it is now about time the rumour ran for UFC 100, UFC 101 and UFC 102.
So the rumors are now hotting up from broadcasters to bloggers.
UFC 101 –
It seems more and more likely that now the signings has happened BJ Penn will defend his welterweight title against Kenflo Ken Florian. BJ Penn last fight was “grease gate” against Georges St Pierre at UFC 94. Kenny Florian last fight was at UFC 91 against Joe Stevenson, which was all the way back in November. Kenny Florian starts training at Greg Jackson’s camp with GSP in a few days in the first of April until the event on the 8th of August.
It may also see the return of the two light heavyweight losers Forrest Griffin and Thiago Silva, it is likely this will be the co main event of the evening. Forrest last fought against Rashad Evans when he lost his title defence at UFC 92 and Silva returns to the Octagon after his lose Lyoto Machida in late January at UFC 94.
Another big fight proposed is Matt Hamill Vs Bradon Vera, it is being deemed as the fight between the worst celebraters of UFC, Hamill returns from a brutal head kick at UFC against Mark Munoz who is trains with Vera. Brandon Vera returns from his return to top form from UFC 96. Vera looked like he wanted to Hamill after the post match interview.
Proposed UFC 101 card is -
Penn vs Florian – Welterweight
Griffin Vs Silva – Light Heavyweight
Matt Hamill VS Brandon Vera – Light Heavyweight
Other rumoured bouts -
Kurt Pellegrino vs Josh Neer
Thiago Tavares vs Melvin Guillard
Kendall Grove vs Wilson Gouveia or Nate Marquardt
Matthew Riddle vs Dan Cramer
Danillo Villefort vs Jesse Lennox
The newest rumour to do the rounds for UFC 102 is that Damian Maia is set to fight the winner from UFC 97 title battle between champion and soon to be record holder Anderson Silva against submission specialist Thales Leites.
Dana White talks about how boxing is shaken up from the effects of UFC and MMA and how HBO have taken to UFC style intros and fighters breakdown before the fight…must admit boxing needs to step out of the dark days and move towards the light -
Lastly new trailer for UFC undisputed 2009 with UFC 97 light heavyweight showdown between Chuck Liddell and Shogun Rua – awesome right?
